Addressing Your Lawn's Brown Patches After Winter

If you enjoyed having a beautiful lawn last year after laying sod in the DFW area, then you’re probably eager to get your grass looking green and lush again. Does your turf grass appear unhealthy because it has brown patches? If so, then you may be dealing with a common lawn care problem seen after winter called snow mold. Watch this video for tips on addressing this unsightly problem in your yard.

Start by using an iron rake to loosen up the top layer of soil in the affected areas. Then, apply a fertilizer that is high in phosphorus before planting grass seeds where there are brown patches in your lawn. Next, rake the area to encourage good contact between the seeds and the soil, and then cover the seeds with compost. Finally, water the area enough to moisten the soil about ½-inch deep.
